Alexander Alekhine, the 65 anniversary of whose death we celebrate this year, we have considered the chess legend. It is not just a single world chess champion, who retired from a life in that position, but the owner of the most rough and winding of the biography of the world chess celebrities. In this connection I would like to say a few words about the events of the last period of his lives that are usually ignored or wrongly interpreted, namely his relationship with Nazi Germany.

Born in 1892 in the Moscow nobility and merchant family, Alekhine came into the world chess elite in the age of 21, finishing at the St Petersburg tournament in 1914 in third place after Emanuel Lasker and Jose Raul Capablanca. Bolshevik Revolution was almost cut short his career on the rise. Autumn of 1918 he moved from Moscow to the Soviet occupied by the Germans Odessa. After taking Odessa Reds in April 1919, Alekhine was arrested by the Cheka and was sentenced to death. From certain death saved him only the intervention of one of the Bolshevik bosses, fascinated chess. Freed and returned to Moscow Alekhine was there in 1920, the Cheka arrested again on suspicion that an employee of the White counterintelligence. Newly released and decided to no longer suffer the fate of Alekhine in 1921 with his wife, a Swiss journalist who managed to escape from the Soviet Russia to Latvia. From there he went to Germany, from which a few months later moved to France, where he settled, obtaining in 1925 the French nationality.
